Serial connections (RS-422 or RS-232) were pretty much the only data connection you would find on processors even 10 years or less ago. I thought about it, and it was the DriveRack 260 that had something other. With Android tablets and phones so cheap these days it is a no-brainer. you cannot really effectively EQ a system if you can't get out in front of it with the controls. All the software they give you make it well worth the price. Nevertheless the PA2 looks like a great value the price of $500 it's more expensive than the BBE and Behringer but is superior in a number of ways. It seems that they have also made enhancements to the processing including now an input delay on the PA2, but unfortunately the output delay is still 10ms max per output. The PA2 has USB and Ethernet, with support for Windows and OS/X laptops plus IOS and Android remote apps.

The PA+ had/has USB and updatable firmware, plus I believe a Windows remote program. The Driverack PA had no connectivity at all. I will be getting a new 'crossover' soon and that is what I have in mind. The ease and prevalence of USB alone, makes this a winner IMO. I forget how the DriveRack PA connected to the PC, but I don't think it was USB and the PA2 is. This just saved my weekend, thanks again buddy. I am going to buy a GX3, which happens to be in stock at my local DJ store. A QSC GX3 can be had for ~300 and a used crossover for under a hundo. I'd have no beef with throwing the 2 tops on a QSC GX3 power amplifier and calling it done. To close this out, get ahold of a decent quality power amp for your tops, and a active crossover to split sub and mains before the amplification.

Another upgrade path could be a DBX Driverack-PX, or Driverack-PA, since they have compression, eq, limiter, crossover built in. A Behringer Autocom MDX1400, and a Behringer CMX3400 crossover, output to two bridged Peavey CS800s for subwoofer duty, and a Behringer powered mixer for my tops, until I can get my mitts on another 150-watt power amp for the tops.

Nowadays, I run my DJs/Live talent thru a little bit of processing. Then, I wired up my 2 subs to one side, and 2 tops to the other, running both channels at 4 ohms. I used a 2/3/4 way crossover to split LF and HF to two channels of one power amp. Here's how I used to do things back when I had a micro rig. Should I get a crossover? All input is appreciated. But I did some researching on other threads and it seems like this could work or it could be a recipe for disaster. I talked to the VP of the agency today and he said I can run the passive speakers through my receiver and plug in the sub to one of the XLR's. I told them I don't have a sub, no biggie because they're going to provide me with one.ДЄnyway, my question is how do I go about connecting a powered sub-woofer into my 2 channel mixer while using passive speakers? Just to give you a little background, I just started working for an entertainment company that does bookings for this bar I have to spin at and they really want to start booking DJ's.
